Mobile snacking
IMO it is not possible to leave the house without snacks. I like to try to avoid UPF as much as possible and take fresh food, veg, homemade snacks and lunch when I can. This is my kitchen “tuppaware” replacements to make this possible

Silicone Food Bags
I wanted plastic free food storage bags that were bullet and kid proof. These are it.
Why I rated it. These are so practical and robust. Made of thick silicone and plastic free, they have lasted for years. The multipack sizes are used almost daily for school snacks, storing leftovers and spare portions of food in the fridge or freezer. I chuck (literally) them in my work bag, school bag, freezer and they are yet to leak. You can also pop them in the microwave.
The downsides. Although they go in the dishwasher, the often need a quick handwash. Also, they will discolour slightly with tomato based food.
The verdict. ★★★★☆ a great investment
Food/snack tins
I have two sizes, love both. I use the smaller tins for snacks (chopped veg/fruit, nuts etc that would otherwise get squashed) and the larger ones for meals – pasta, stew, nutty pudding etc.
Why I rate it. Again, bullet proof, leak proof, easy to dishwasher. These have been the preferred option when travelling as they protect things from getting squashed in hand luggage.
The downsides. The wrong material to microwave food in the container. The rubber seal sometimes comes lose and is a bit fiddly to fit back on the lid.
The verdict. ★★★★★ Another great investment
Kids Steel water bottle
Obviously we have gone through a load of water bottles, name a parent who hasn’t! These are the ones I come back to as replacements
Why I rate it. I love the bright plain colours, they are the right size for small children, allow me to avoid plastic and remain leak proof unless you drop or throw them that hard they crack….
The downsides. Kids love a theme or pattern so maybe its a bit mean to stick to a parent pleasing style.
The verdict. ★★★★☆ Some have leaked when thrown around too much, boy mums – maybe not for you.
